Delta Marines Football Club of Asaba were held to a 1 – 1 draw by Ndame FC of Kwale in a pre-season friendly played at the Kwale Mini Stadium on Friday, 17th February 2023. The Blue Submarines, coached by CAF licensed coach, Odili Kings, took the lead through 21 year-old striker, Eseka Anthony from an assist provided by 18 year-old creative midfielder, Orji Benedict. Delta Marines FC led for most of the game until Ndame FC scored an equalizer in the 85th minute.
Coach Odili praised the team for giving their hosts a difficult match and singled out 17 year-old striker, Prosper Echuno, for his dazzling movement on and off the ball, which carved out several openings in the opposition’s defence; and 18 year-old creative midfielder, Orji Benedict who created several goal scoring opportunities. The three youngsters, Prosper, Anthony and Benedict will be ones to watch out for when the AITEO/DFA Federation Cup begins later in February 2023 and the Nationwide League One season begins in April 2023.
